The End is nigh! Or it's not nigh? Choose.

Forgive me folks. For I am a noob.

I have been trawling these forums (and others) as I have recently been given an SV 5 - and having paid for cable service for years thought I'd have a go.

Obviously - as with all learing curves - things start off bumpy - but then improve.

I am confused though - is the end nigh? Via nagra 3 - or is this a load of bunkum ? Is the future to be blank or is it to be spent re-tuning every time one wishes to partake?

Noob or not - I think we should be told. Or at least start a row about it.

    Cheers!

You are guessing correctly, maybe be a work around with c/s payservers but, I , personally would not go down that route!

The work around is already there. Theres a commercial C/S server setup for cable! But at ?40 a month for the full package (pron, asian footy etc) I dont see the freeloaders shelling out that much for "free" tv.

Plus I'm sure virgin have a way of dectecing packets which would suggest someone is C/s, especially considering most people have their BB with them too.

                  ng1 codes

dont think so m8, vm have been doing alot of messing about with transmission parameters and so on so just do a rescan and hopefully your channels will come back.

If the codes changed, you would be only able to view free channells, eg BBC. Everything else would be scrambled! Good advise given by 'mdt'!

well im in ireland and n3 has been in full flow here since last year and we only have a few free to air channels. i also have a dish for all the free channels from the sky satellite(which is quite a few) its good backup(it means allways having some channels) the starview 6 is out this month ,they have a satellite and cable versions(with lan port) might be worth looking in to for some people it costs about ?145, ill let people to figure out for them selves about this box.
i love it when a dreambox comes together.
