Hi all, sorry to ask the same question as the others (who sign up just to ask) (I've been on the site for a while reading all of your interesting topics and learning) but the time has come to ask a question as i'm confused to which area I would come under..

Lichfield is my area and I believe from the list shown Derbyshire is the closest but it could be somthing different?

I have read crap loads of posts about which areas are receiving their cards or set to, but how does the network actually work? Why would lichfield come under maybe Derbyshire.. Is it similar to a traceroute on an Ip address..

    All info greatly appreciated

Ok, cheers buddy, thanks for your quick reply.

        Edit for an addition..

I should've asked this a long time ago, duh!! I told VM I had freesat built into my new HDTV so i no longer needed their tv service, they said that they will just drop me to the M package. Does this mean I will receive a new card? I still have the box too, they didn't ask for it back.

So, theoretically if all of the streams eventually switch to N3 then my current card would not work, needing a new N3 one, correct?

        Cheers in advance.

yes if you have a virgin box, you will get a new card, so you will then know you will have a matter of weeks before it switches to n3.

It is to do with netid from which several areas are fed through. If your area uses the same netid as Derby then your area will receive the new cards as well.

Like Nottingham for example shares the same netid with Lincolnshire therefore both areas will receive cards at the same time and will be switched off at the same time.

Hayes in London is a tw area they are sending cards to. The reason why they are not focusing fully on tw areas is because those areas are very easy to do they will leave them mainly till the end.

Glasgow is NTL and North Lanarkshire is TW, so what area are you talking about?, as none of them is N3 yet
