Virgin v+ question anyone help!?!? please

    hi all
about a year ago virgin sent me a free vbox as i had the old analogue one so we use this downstairs to watch the free channels.
if i can 'acquire' a v+ box (say from a friend or ebay) would i be able to hook this up and watch the free channels on it without a card from virgin ? eg: what i would like to do is install the box upstairs (cable wiring is already there) so i can watch tv up there also.
see at the mo i only have telehone and broadband with virgin - they give me tv for free as i dont subscribe to any packages - they say an extra box is ?10 per month......
    can anyone help please??!!

Im not sure exactly what ur asking but by free I assume u mean bbc, itv, 4 and five. On my v+ box if i remove the card i still get those channels but I cant record. Also on every channel change i get a message saying that my viewing card isnt inserted but if I press ok I can remove the message from the screen. I hope that helps a bit?

Dont be silly... hes wasting money is hes gonna do that dude.

save your money and dont buy a new box... because the new Excryption has been rolled out and soon it will be all over UK

which means it will cripple your box.

          END OFF!!

I assume from this you cannot pause live tv either??

Which basically leaves the V+ a standard stb?

thanks guys for all your help - looks like im just gonna have to call virgin and get the extra box at this rate then. I just wondered as some guy on ebay is selling his v+ box so wasnt sure if it was worth buying or not.
Ive got a dreambox for now anyway but as we all know all things on that side will come to an end
on another note big respect to all those that managed to get the sky 12 month half price offer i was too late for that one !! gutted !

Thing is that when you get an added box the card has to be paired to the box in order to recieve channels.

If you want you could just replace a standard box with V+ but you would have to phone VM and say something is wrong and they will sort it

hmm yes thats definately one option but the problem i have is that they will take my old vbox - i wanna keep the vbox for the other room and have a v+ box for downstairs !! oh this is just all so hard !! sky is looking like a good option at the moment - that way i can keep the VM broadband !! so much to resarch though around sky !! arhhh
                  thanks for your help
