    Please forgive my ignorance......

Hi Everyone, ive been a member of this great site for a short while now and ive read many interesting posts, especially regarding the N3 upgrades, i wanted to ask a couple of silly things regards this so here goes: Why cant the people that make the boxes we use make a box that will emu the N3 ? Also, whats the point of us all buying the latest boxes like the new kryptview/starview etc if they are all going to end up FTA ? Why cant someone make a keymaster/keyreading program that will just read what keys are being sent down the live feed and then you can just put the keys in. I know N3 is very complicated but there are some amazing clever people out there. i pay for my sub but i do have a couple of Kryptview in other rooms andi cant complain about the service i have had from from. Anyways, thanks for reading this and for your time, all the best, Dog

i think its all a matter of time before there is a 'hack' for the new system. personaly i wouldnt worry to much. but if television is that important to people they should seek out an alternative at least for the time being.
it could be a long while before the hack does appear so maybe a cardsharing alternative will imerge for cable. in which case people may find they shouldnt ditch the boxes they currently have.

just a case of hanging tight for now i say.

I think some people are too optimistic, just cos n1 and n2 were hacked means nothing for n3, n3 could be just as strong as any other encryption such as sly's. Dont get ur hopes up too high.

I hope it happens though. then the chase will begin once again,

sly would be even better tho, imagine that

I have a kryptview and a nokia dbox 2, and i will not part with them. I have had a good 3 yrs with my boxes and i hope a crack comes out soon. I do pay for my sub but use the boxes in other rooms. Lets hope something emerges....

Here's a thought then.... If n3 is ever broken down why would u want to run an old box on it?

1080 will soon be a thing of the past as the next resolution is already a work In progress as is 3d tv. So why not just buy a new box that no doubt would be produced to cope with both and enhance your viewing experience further?

Personally I think that if n3 is ever broken down tv will have moved on in leaps and bounds anyway and the fix will be relatively pointless and the next stage of encryption will be ready and waiting well in advance.

                  very true scotty_dotty

however if most homes have more than one tv, there will always be a need to have another box to use on one of the non main tv's. ie the bedroom or kids' rooms.

so you can have your new 3D box with 2160 res and built in fax machine as well as tea maker, in the front room with your 110 inches ultra flat plasma. and in the bedroom you can have the segam dbox with the sellotaped broken remote control, and missing card slot flap.
