Sky utilise N3 with the sister companies in Germany and Italy, i.e. Sky Germany and Sky Italia and Calcio are all encrypted in N3 so of course they will of put loads of money into it.

As RD says, the UK system is NDS

You are correct about sky germany but i think you will find sky italia and calcio are nds not n3.

Guess this means they wont pay someone to hack the encryption this time... damn N3 hacks could be a long time coming

Sky Italy use NDS.. Videoguard = NDS

                http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/skyitalia.html

                Sky UK also use NDS

                http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/skyuk.html

Sky Germany also is now encrypted in NDS.. Once the old Premiere cards and boxes are all outdated then it will switch to pure NDS and not be dual broadcast..

                http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/skydeutschland.html

News Corporation own NDS and also they own the Sky platforms across the world..

The reason VM went to a better encryption was due to the contracting when Sky allowed them to broadcast their channels again.. Sky pushed VM down a better end of encryption or they were going to pull the rights to Sky channels

So wardy whoever told you that rumour is talking out of their ringpiece

                      Sky UK - 0963 = NDS Videoguard
                      Sky IT - 0919 = NDS Videoguard v2 - 093b = NDS Videogaurd v3
                      Sky DE - 1702 = Nagravision v3 - 09c4 = NDS Videogaurd v2

this is a win win for Sky

on one hand people will move over to Sky on the other hand, people will subscribe to VM which means Sky will get extra revenue for each subscriber on VM who pays for the premium channels
