Light at the end of the tunnel...?

I was wondering if you could clear somethin up for me...

Now despite my very brief knowledge on N3 i atleast understand that it is completely different to what is currently in place, and that it is secure and not open loop as it is at the moment (so to spreak).

Now despite this i still hear from people who've spoken to the the "local box dealer" that there is a particular box that will still work after the switch-over.

Now, i don't for one second believe that these money-grabbing cons know what they're talking about, but is there any chance that they could still be right?

These are the same people who programme the cards to expire so they can make ?20 on each one every-year, but that still doesn't seem to sink in for everyone.

I'm hoping to stop some friends from buying boxes off these people for ?100 a pop when they'll be worthless in a few weeks.

There is one box guaranteed to work.. You just call VM for one.

There is absolutely no box on the market or about to be brought onto the market that can decode N3.. Nor likely to be for quite awhile.

When the dealer says his box will work.. He is probably either lying or conning you by implying it decodes N3 while only actually working through LAN and on a card sharing scheme that logs onto a dedicated website. These are going to be more common and go down as quick as they surface, taking your subs with them.

That's more or less what i thought.

With all due respect, the people we're talking about have the IQ of a 2yr old compared to some off the people who are on here, however you know what people are like...tell them they can get something for free (even though they're paying for the box itself) and they'll believe anything.

I have an EX7000HD, i've had a good 6-months out of it, and don't mind keeping it as i can still use it to record.

I'm personally looking to go down the SAT route (did contact SKY for their HD packages but they just wanted to sell me crap i didn't want) but will look into that later in the year.
