If the res is the same you probably won't see any difference. Unless your puting 2 of the same tvs next to each other running the 2 sources together then why even bother.

Had an ex7000 and just got sky HD in and personally the only tweek I found that's been a bonus on sky HD is that you have seperate contrast settings in the sub menus which is great for boosting the whites on my pana plasma.
And I prefer the menus etc on the sky set up.

You can get itv HD on sky just now, go to the general sat section and there's a post with a tutorial.

When VM get sky hd I suspect you'll see a difference then.

Sky transmit to their sat and that goes direct to our dish, where as VM will have to pick it up from sky on their massive dishes then pump it through their system to eventually get to us.

sky channels have always been a second or so behind on vm compared to sky dish transmissions and digital free, so I'm guessing there's gonna be some kind of degradation along the way.

            On both platforms it's 1080i.
            It's A Lot, not Alot.

it's digital so i would doubt there's any sort of signal degredation probably only lag

I have both a eurovox ex 7000 and a dm800 sat hooked up to a sammy full HD telly. I can flick from vm to sly while both are on, say Nat Geo HD channel.
And in my opinion Sly is slightly better quality than vm.

Some channels like BBC HD VM get a direct wire feed, other channels have to come from satellite which use 'MPEG4' variant and then re-encode it to MPEG2.

I have a full 1080p and a 1080i TV and there is absolutely minimal difference between the 2 when watchin TV. The only time you can tell is when a very fast moving scene is on,,,

Virgin and Sky are the same quality really..
get real the difference between HD and SD is massive..

If you are watching something filmed in SD on a HD channel then the difference is minimal as its just uprated SD.. for example C4HD is showing Friends, now this isn't HD as it was never filmed in HD

However watch the live football on Sky Sports HD1 tomorrow at 4pm and then compare it to the same match on Sky Sports 1..

If you cant see the massive difference in quality, sharpness and color then you need to check that your Sky+HD box is set up correctly, make sure you are using just a HDMI cable and not a SCART.. If you have the right settings and are using a HDMI cable and you still cant see the difference then go to the opticians ..

Programs not filmed in HD but broadcast on a HD channel are just slightly uprated SD

Programs filmed in HD and broadcast on a HD channel are true HD

                        Yup..

My box is setup perfect..... No problems,,,I dont have a scart connected,,,,

On SkySportsHD and nonHD you can notice a difference, but not enough to warrant the extra dosh required.

When you watch a blu ray at full 1080p you can notice a differece between that and Sports HD..

The difference in quality is minimal...

                          minimal...?

you must have a budget HD TV or dodgy glasses

well the difference is massive on my 37" LG LCD 1080 Full HD.. I'm using the latest Sky+HD box with gold HDMI cables..

SD is grainy.. Sky HD is just as good as any Blu Ray played on my Harman Kardon BDP-10

                                agreed
for instance look at the ball when in play and being passed around the pitch in the standard tele camera in SD its blury and just looks like a white circle
in HD you can see the spin on the ball and the pattens all over it there's a HUGE difference
