buying a cable box

As your all aware the end of free tv is nearly upon us
i subscribe to virgin with broadband phone and a free cable box with limited channels' so my question is can i buy a unmodified cable box to recieve the same basic channels just in a different room

oh and will i recieve the new card from virgin or will the old card still pick up the basic channels

all virgin channels will go to nag 3 even fta, the old card will work for a while ( not long ) but you will need a new card from them to watch your basic channels on their legit box

he's wrong - that or trying to flog some of his boxes he has left.

gmb got it right, ALL the channels will be N3 so no 3rd party boxes will work decoding them. the only glimmer of hope (only a slight glimmer mind that no-one has even attempted it yet or know if it's possible) would be some sort of card sharing, your sub'd card around the house.
