    Virgin or sky

Hi, I have virgin tv ( L ) Broadband ( 10Meg ) and phone ( M ). I would like to add sports and be able to record tv also multiroom. I rang virgin and asked what they can offer compaired with sky, Was told that they cannot offer anything on sports as they have to pay sky for this. They did come up with a package yesterday but when i went through everything they had knocked the broadband down to 2meg! now on a months notice what is the best offer i can expect to get from their retentions department?
    Thanks.

in my general opinion dont expect anything off the retentions dept,we have never been able to get anything off them where as friends of ours have had all sorts for free or drastically reduced rates,ie one of them is paying 1p for the full sports package, another gets everything, phone,20meg bb,full tv package(inc sports and movies) for ?35 a month and they have had this deal now for the best part of 18 months.so i just think it is down to who you talk to at virgin,

The recent ruling means Sky have to reduce the costs of their sports bundles to Virgin and the like, clearly that is under appeal at the moment.
Not sure if those on contracts will be able to see the benefit of this until renewal time so for yourself on a 1 month notice you are in a good position.

Sky offer good retention benefits but only after your first year is up so that is not a good option for you at this time I would guess.

Keep challenging VM and speaking to different people until you get an offer you are happy with and then do not commit long term until the results of the ruling are finalised

You are best ringing to cancel then get passed onto retension department.

But it depends on how long you have been a customer to get a retension offer....

Speak to both, play them against each other and see who can do the best for you.

I tried to cancel sly a couple of years ago because my Pace box crapped it's tuner, sly agreed a free replacement and discount if I stuck with them. I ended up with a shitty recon Amstrad box that failed after 13 months, sly didn't want to know afterwards. I now stick to cable.

Get Sky installed, they got some great deals on now that VM cant match, you will get a 12 month contract, then you can stop the contract after 12 month and put 1 against the other

Thot sky box was better kit but the customer care was garbage. Stuck with vm for our new place which went in on Friday, VIP package + multiroom & free install (and a shot of the engineers masonry drill ) ? 60 odd pm rising to just ower 70 after 6 month.

Disputing equipment tho as we were meant to get a new v box for 2nd room but they used existing (needless to say the box was brand new aherm). Asked the guy to give me a v+ for bedroom and even tried bribing with a fanta but no luck.
