    Boxes work without VM

    Hi,

I have a VM package and a starview box and have just been told my new card is on it's way so that's the end of my starview box.

My next door neighbour doesn't have VM but has a starview box which his brother in law put in when he worked for them a few years back. He seems to think he will be OK as he doesn't have a VM package.

How does nagravision3 work? Is it only through VM boxes via the card?

    Cheers,
    Johnnyk

It will get worse than that for him. I was given info that VM engineers will start cutting connections to properties that don't have a subscription after N3 has hit.

Think their aiming this at the C/S people.

Makes sense as they charge you for the engineer visit to fit the box. You can't refuse the charge if they have to reconnect you.

you dont need tv sub tho to get virgin connection for tv as long as you have phone or BB you can still get the tv package so i cant see them cutting connections

why didnt they just do that in the first place

I don't know why they didn't do it previously. And you're right, you only need a phone line or BB to show as having a subscription. But there will be a lot of people out there who are on BT lines using non-sub boxes.

How would VM stop the C/S when they can't monitor the BB? With N3 looking secure they only have to fear the outbreak of mass C/S.
If they cut the lines to properties not paying & monitor traffic through DPI on those that are paying. They'll clamp down pretty quick.
