God remember them, poor sods where hacked to death. I'm in the same boat got a package from them ?39 a month 20 meg BB telephone and a medium TV package. It's a small cost for what you can get

m8 got it set up to day 10meg v+ (tv drive ) phone 35 a month ok i know your getting 20 meg but its not like we get it all the time but not bad for 35

I used to work for NTL and the policy was to contact the customer by Tel
or would send some corrispondence giving the customer a few days to make arrangements for somebody to be home. NTL never call unexpected,unless the fraud dept comes with the old bill with search warrant. I would imagine VIRGIN would have the same arrangements

If you're not paying at least a minimum sub then I have no sympathy for you.

I pay for full 20MB broadband and phone line so at least I'm giving them something. If everyone didn't pay for at least a min sub they would go the same way as OnDigital (ITV Digital) - BUST!!! And where would we be then?

I don't understand your point. In fact I think you're struggling with your conscience regarding this....So it's OK to get the TV for free because you get the broadband (and especially as it's the top package) and phoneline? By this reasoning if I buy $ky TV it is OK to walk into the the newsagents and help myself to a copy of The Times, or visa versa?

Surely the whole point of this is to get stuff for free? Fair play to the lad if he's done it without committing to the others.

Personally I can't get Sky and after 10 years with NTL/Virgin they have pissed me off to the point that I am happy to receive their signal for nowt.

Not at all! if I may be so bold as to assume what DF means is this:- if you get broadband off vermin, you are legitamately obtaining the signal, the signal is there whether you watch tv or not, all we are doing is making use of unused bandwidth. the other point of paying is that ondigital was hacked to f**k meaning they had very little revenue stream and went bust. what happens if everybody does it like this fella? no revenue stream for vm no tv for anybody. your logic is flawed my good man, very flawed

place a low noise block in line with your box and all will b ok no noise feeding back two the network look in ebay for them dont cost much

So is noise the only way virgin could know you were using a dreambox (Clone)? and do these gadgets plop mentioned work?

ive never had a problem,i pay about ?15 a month for me net,which is
a 2 meg connection ,got a 20 meg connection upstairs ,and 2
dm600 on the go ,it be just easier and simplier to pay a min subscription

Grassed sounds about right, its not such a good idea to brag in the pub etc about how you get this and that for free etc..

As for the noise issue, I am cannot give it much legs it more like a rumour to scare people. Prior to my DM being attached I had used ch1pped old analogue boxes for about 6 years without any issue, never heard a peak out of VM (NTL back then) even when I asked them to boost the signal at the area box down the street.

Trick is not to feel that you are so clever with your kit and your channel list that you feel the need to brag and possibly get over heard. Some guy might not like you so much or be a copper or work for VM, you know the rest.

xl cable
mobile sim card
this costs me about ?65 month
i've been running 2 dboxes for best part 4 years and a dreambox(clone)for 2 years ish
so yea ?65 ish but for that i've got unlimited home phone use(except mobiles and premium rate)wifey gets i think its 300 minutes on her mobile and i get me broadband and tv as well.
i've never had vm knock on my door and i'm fairly confident they wont because i'm paying at top end of package with all sort's coming in my house and i certainly do not advertise to neighbours/mates what i've got coz there are a lot of people that will bubble you up out of jealousy!!!
gone of tangent a bit but what i was going to say was if vm dont make money they stop trading in cable no more use for boxes so dont be tight gits and pay some thing !!!

i have the exact same package as you m8 even down to the mobile sim thing is i only get charged ?50 for the lot so you want to get a refund

?40 for xl tv unlimited calls (barring mobiles) 20 meg broadband and ?10 for the mobile sim its a bargain and your right everyone should try and give a bit back to the cable company or who knows one day they might pull the plug and we may all be left with nothing

It's got me thinking, this thread.

If I hook my Eurovox up but I have BB from them (as is the case) will they be able to detect it? I.e. would it just look like I'm downloading more? Or do the BB and TV have completely different signals?

...OR is the "noise" that was detected on matey boys line from the fact it is not one of their official boxes?

Trying to make sure I am safe (I am not going to mention it to anyone).

Don't worry about it. There are thousands of people who have these boxes and only mateyboy has been clocked. Which like others have pointed out was mre than likely someone grassing him up.

If you want to get paranoid, just think if Virgin Media are monitoring all the web sites you visit whilst connected to their broadband service. They will know you have been d/l images from DK and what threads you have been browing. THey might send the Virgin Commando Squad to raid your house. If you are worried about noise get one of those noise blockers or a full sub.
