Vermin engineers can just about tell their left from right hand, and I for one still don't know why they call them "engineers" I never spoke to one who as done a apprenticeship or even set foot in a college, ask one how he would flash a box and I think he would look more vacant than he usualy does, so I would take his comment as 100%, true to life, larger than large "BS"......If in any doubt read a few more gmb45's threads he is a master at sniffing out BS........chuckLast edited by chucklor; 17 June, 2010, 19:07.Comment

have to agree with the comment on engineers - they're only called engineers because they drive a van with tools in. All of them without exception are nuggets who plug boxes in, change some menu settings and nowt much else. If anything major happens, they come, check connections then leave saying "someone wil be back later" or something. i hate to stereotype - but they're all goons.
As has been said so many times, N3 has been around for a number of years, across the world in many BIGGER markets than VM's. Just because VM rolls it out, the 'clever guys' ain't going to think 'Blimey, we better make sure all the brits get their free telly back' and suddenly come up with a all-inclusive hack. N1 wasn't hacked, it was a back door that was exploited. Even if there was ANY sort of movement, it probably wouldn't be released publicly for a long time.
whats going to happen in mid-july? if that a date the hackers have choosen to release this info?
Rumours like this just cause more trouble than they're worth - they're all speculation and hearsayComment

This is a copy of the exam you need to take to become a virgin engineer....
1. 1+1=
a. Politeness to customer
b. Knowledge of a digital installation
c. 2
d. **** up customers walls and plaster
e. leave cables hanging everywhere but the place intended
f. confirm a time and then turn up 3 days later
Note; we recommend that before making your decision that you ignore answers a & b totally and always practice answers d,e and f on future installations.Comment

I had an engineer in and questioned him. told him i had the dodgy box installed but was switching to motorised dish. He then told me he had a technomate with a dish but lost all the channels about 6 months ago.
That just about ties in with what is said about theyre intellegance as engineers.
They are nothing more than fitters and anything needing done with the box is done from the hub end.sigpic

Been hearing this all morning today at Daleside road, its not true though, just engineers starting rumours, you should see how paranoid they all are there about it being opened.
I suppose technically it has been emulated as theres a handful of people in Germany and Austria using R&R to view, BUT thats a looooooooooong way from it being opened over here, and anybody that says otherwise is in fantasy land.
Incidentally someone saying about them moving to another encryption if this one gets opened soon, not going to happen, not for a fair while anyway...Comment

Ok, so if your payed for box goes to N3 or anyother name of a motor way system, you ring them up, after 20 mins speaking to somebody in India, or some bastard in Scotland, either way strugling to make out what they are on about, you get a new card sent out.
Your card arrives, tune in, plug in, cop out.
So one would assume the hard ware is good enough, to decode this 20,000,0000,00000,00000000,000000000000 signal changes every
1/500000000000000000 of a split millisecond, so why can't somebody
'make' a 'card' connected to a computer to do this?
