I have a Starview 5 Super Box, and I need new firmware. I am a bit crap with tech stuff, but looking at this forum, is there no longer firmware for these boxes and do I need to get a new box, a kv box?

welcome to DK m8, there isnt any new firmware, vm are rolling out a new encryption called nagravision3, and theres no fix, look at this post---> http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...tml#post643240 if your in the area switched/switching to nag3 your box is ~~~~ed, if it anit it soon will be. the only boxes working with nag3 is the sv6 ( unreliable and not worth the risk ) and the kv 750/780, by c/s ( CardShare, google for info ) the only real option you have got is pay up to virgin or sky, or go for a motorised sat set up

Nice one thanks for explaining...I've only had the SV 5 for 5 months, and it still works OK, just wanted to update my firmware. So I suppose when the NV3 rolls out in my area its time to sign up to Sky Sports...not sure about the c/s! I've had my free run and being a woman, was difficult enough sorting out the SV 5, don't fancy my chances with c/s!!

dont blame you.. i'm lucky, had mine for 3 years plus... so cant and wont complain. but still all ok here, had new card for 6 weeks now.... btw, where are you...? and have you or neighbours had new cards??
