New card doesn't work in STB

Received new Virgin card week or so ago but when I try it in Virgin's set top box, all I get is "Virgin TV service will start soon" , and nothing happens.I have never used the STB since the day it was installed 'cos I'm getting TV 'another way'. Seeing as it looks like I'm now going to have to use the STB pretty soon, if I ring Virgin will the somehow know it's not been used?

Reset the box first, see if it works then. Then call them, the card may not be paired correctly with the box.

Just thinking if the box is really old like pre cr1 software then it would be interesting to see what happens.

Has the receiver updated when you put it on stream ?

new vermin card

I had the same problem with my new card 2 months ago ~ I called vermin and they talked me through getting the card to work in my 5 year old tw stb whilst I also had the SV4 connected ~ They have no feedback from their stb as to whether you have used it or have had it connected ~ Just phone vermin and tell them you card does not work. (ps:- make sure you have the card in the right slot)

The same thing happens with the original card as with the new card. The STB doesn't do anything when switched on just gives out the message above.

i had the same prob i just held in the down btn switched off/on then it came on ok
