Sly Broadband is seriously crap. If you only using it to browse email etc then fair enough go to Sly but if you're downloading then Sly is no use. Max speeds of 6mb = meh!

Read all the posts in this thread and was hoping I'll find answers to my question but it seems like I'll have to bother you guys.
I got virgin last month and got rid of Sky. Biggest gripe was their crappy customer service and rubbish broadband, I was getting around 2MB. Another reason to get virgin was to try out the Eurovox which I got free from a cousin in Leeds but that didn't work.
When I had my virgin installed, I had a very friendly virgin engineer who run through 2 cables for me. One in the living room where my virgin V+ box is connected and another upstairs in my bedroom where I wanted Eurovox to work (plus got my virgin modem there). He put the splitter so I could connect the same cable with the modem and a virgin box.
Now my question is if I get a standalone virgin box (hopefully a second hand from car boot sale) would that be good enough for me to get multiroom working or would I need to contact virgin who'll have to enable multiroom service hence charge me ?5/month which I don't wanna pay?

moving the box each time you will destroi the connectors in short time is not a problem with the cable conectors but if you destroi the conectors from box or tv will be much expensive that multi rom pak

i dont think you'll get a stand alone vermin box from a car boot sale.
with sky after your years contract is up, the box is yours, which will work as freeview.
with vermin, they always own the box and normally ask for it back if you leave them..
and even if you did get one, you will only get channels 1 to 5. if any at all

Guys thanks for your responses. This doesn't sound good at all. The good thing however is that I've got Sky box in the bedroom and all the free channels are working so I guess I'll have to live with it. Hopefully Mrs would get used to it

get a universal video modulator from amazon connect a scart to box run a cable upstairs to another tv tune in and you should get a perfect picture that is what i did .

you will have to go back down to change channels i do not think there is a fitting like sky to change channels on another tv.
