if vm were going to roll this out before xmas then surely someone on this forum would have received one of the new cards to use. Until people starting talking about receiving these cards i can't see it happening any time soon.

You raise a very good point why would you need a new card if just firmware that can be downloaded I am no guru but in this day and age I would have thought it would be a software issue

Yeah its just simple scaremongering......vm have changed the code simply to put people off buying new boxes before Christmas and as already been said,people who do not have the know how to update their boxes will throw them away.
You have heard it on here yourself...some people have updated 6 units some even more
And if it wasn't for your help their boxes would be expensive door stops..

I had a look at my V+ box and it does not have a card slot on the front, is it on the back? Surely they could not send out new cards and expect us to install them inside the unit as they would void the warranty of the unit, and if someone hurt themselves would they be able to sue? It would cost them too much to have their installers to call around and replace them to everyone home.

ive hopefully got sky+ coming in the next few days, got my card today, i got a code off the net for free install n 6 packs for free for 12 months, as long as they dont change thier mind.... so sky want our custom....

also....

1. vm are in a lot of debt
2. its 3 weeks till christmas (my parents still have an old pace box)
never ever has it been upgraded....
3. this would cost them a lot money and time. when their engineers could be putting in new subscribers.
4. it is a big change over christmas when many people are on holliday nad many factorys close over xmas.
5. this is probably here to try and stop people getting boxes for xmas presents in the fear they wont work.
6. cable tv is to easy to get free, hence these code changes, they want people to get fed up paying for fixes and just pay them.
7. a lot of people would move over to sky
8. people are loosing jobs by the day and cutting down on what they have, and if that means changing suppliers to save a bit, people will....
9. they are doing 50mb broadband atm so i would have thought theyd sort this out first..... and its taken them mounths in trial.
10. they dont even have the time to disconect ppl, so what chance do we have with them going round upgrading all these boxes, and within 3 weeks??? what happens if your away????
11. they still havent turned off the analogue signal yet.


finally i was speaking to a bt engineer, and they are going to start using fiberoptics like vm...... soooooooo...... i wonder what will happen then? apparently they are already running tests, i heard this first hand from a real bt engineer.

hope this aint right, ah well someone said we had a good run, the money i saved over the last 12 months will pay for a new updated eurovox when they come out .
