    Paranoid question

Even as I'm typing this I realise how ludicrous this sounds but....

As I've trawled forums like this over the years I've never seen an update like the new firmware for the Starview 3 uploaded by a newbie. It's usually the wizened old members that post these and that the rest of us mere mortals rely on.

Coupled to the fact that this fix turned up pretty quickly and with all due respect to blairco, is this suspicious? Could there be any possible way that use of this new firmware is traceable?

And please lets limit the number of answers of the type..

"You're perfectly right!! It is ludicrous" ... to around none.

i would be more concerned it wasn't malware/virus or blow box, which some patches would do if you install on wrong box

I had checked the file and it was fine. What I had not done was link it to an external site, this is due to forum rules as we do not allow modified firmware on our server.

This has now been done. As said it was fine and still is.
