If there was a change this big being planned, we would have heard about it here in the UK, I beleive Chorus etc... can afford this encryption purely because they have a small subscriber base. The whole of the UK is a different matter, and will cost them millions and millions. This will not happen anytime soon I don't think. Can you imagine the amount of VM Subscribers who are then going to switch to sly if this happens. VM will more than likely go out of business. I am a subscriber and would cut them loose as soon as this happened. It wouldn't surprise me if sly were behind this somehow. I think they know that VM will die as a result, because most people who have dodgy boxes have a subscription anyway. My Phone bills are ludicrous and I can also get cheaper broadband.

Its actually sly that are pushing for this to happen. So by moving to sly your not actually gaining anything. The whole of the country is not that different, its always been split into two parts Langley/Bromley. The new encryption is only running off Langley, the Bromley head end is being closed.

If you move to sly its going to cost you ?120 for a new phone line to be installed, your BB may be free but limited to 2mb and 40gb download a month. If you want a higher speed then you have to pay. Your speed will also be dependant on your line length, and cable quality. You may not even get 2mb!

I would also go to sly if VM changed encryption. Vm will loose their ?30 pm from me.

If vm read these forums we should all let them know the truth, they will spend a lot of ??? to loose a lot of customers. Does not sound like good bussiness sense.

The attitude of you two astounds me. Because you cannot rip them off for a hefty amount each month your going to move provider. How churlish of you both. You have saved thousands on sub, and now because you are forced to pay you throw your toys out and move provider. Waaah Waaah Waaah!

Also they have to spend the money to get the new channels or sly will not provide them, so its a catch 22.

You may all be able to get cheaper BB, but will it be as fast, and as reliable. I doubt it. VM are the market leader in BB, and until BT and the other network providers pull their finger out and lay fibre, then it will continue to be the market leader.

And what do you think you can get for ?30 per month of sly?

@Alex_Red you will just lose channels, as the network is being upgraded to run on n3, and if your box has not been updated then it wont be able to decrypt the signal.

no mate , because the old nagra 1 stream will be switched of anyway once all cards have being issued in areas meaning nargra 3 will be the only stream therefore dodgy box dies , hope this helps

Most have are already get sky basic package installed (if they dont already have sky dish) then setting up cardsharing for all channels and there is a LOT more channel on sky and especially lot more HD channels.
