a cable box will not pick up anything on a sat dish motorized or not.
DO NOT BUY A KRYPTVIEW!!!

I even have old Sly boxes, pace and grundi, they are not analouge boxs, but they will pick up digital TV.
I can even tell you how to get into the hidden Installation menu where you can re-tune the box into all the FTA channels that sly has to offer, which is more than vermin.
that would do for the time being, until one decides if they want to invest in a special sat stb.
It's worth a thought folks, infact I may go down that rout myself. Because this will give me another alternative viewing option, than the normall FTA, that my TV picks up already.
It's just a case of, getting around ?200 together, for the dish and installation, and away I go.Last edited by satsmo; 8 April, 2011, 22:50. Reason: Merged four consecitive posts please edit a post and add to it insteadComment

"i know a few guys with boxes who would be more than happy to sell them to you for below cost price.*"
?
Ive done quite a bit of research and what I have stated is fact not opinion. While the boxes may be sold as FTA it is not there intended purpose, hence the price tag. The intended purpose is not functional therefore people should hold on to their money until the 'problems' are resolved.I never make assumptions hence I wouldn't have an iota where it would lead
I understand your intentions, but anyone who does a bit of research may understand the "problems" at this moment. I for one can see threads across every forum referring to the current situation.
However that's my opinion and is only as good as what I am currently aware off. Everyone is entitled to one here as you can see we have a varied set of opinions,(not just in this thread), when it comes to these plug n sort of play boxes.
From 'research' it seems not that difficult for people with some technical know how to setup their own small private 'rings' with nothing more than a cheap dreambox, an internet connection and something paired to it.
The problem as far as I am aware is pairing methods and making the connection secure for mass use without compromising the system.
As for any legal implications as far as I am aware this should not be a problem for any 'big suppliers' as you have stated the boxes are sold FTA."What we've got here is failure to communicate."Comment

Intresting
Interesting i made a post on another topic based on this, Again if boxes were never to come back on again! which again ill state i cant see the probably will, id be amazed to see kv go down before sv! no offense, Then there are other options available to KV team if they wanted to keep there name good, They obviously have the know how to card share on cable which iv read most don't, Why not open the boxes up like sky and do the same as sky,"i know a few guys with boxes who would be more than happy to sell them to you for below cost price.*"
?

Again boxes that are open are useless without being able to do the serving side of things which i think is not available to the public on cable in my opinion release it to the public which i cant see, to much money envolved here, pretty much making cable like sky,
Thanks for reading hope this makes sense,Last edited by joeontherun; 9 April, 2011, 13:25.Comment

it seems that some people who shout and scream about all most everything want somerthing for free?? now lets face the facts of life anything you get for free will always be dodgy with risks involved which is well stated we buy set items that can do things that we do at our own risk but we buy them for that very reason, we all saved money some more than others. any company these days can and do run out of money nothing we can really do and does any1 really thing that cable companies dont know about these boxes or know that their subs have gone done? my own opinion is that kv will be back standing tall but how long well how long is a piece of string at the end of the day none of us would really want to go to prison and defo not for televison which we all know consists of repeat after repeat and as for the sports we all have a computer and there vis more than a handful of websites which we can watch sports on and if not if all else fails we can all go down to our local peace tcComment

@ OP
Aren't you just stating the obvious?
Only the very unwise would invest ?150 in a KV just now while the server is down, no-one would buy something that doesn't work.
Even though I have way more confidence in the KV team than I do in the SV gang and I'm pretty confident that the server will return. I would not be parting with my cash at present time.Last edited by C64; 9 April, 2011, 20:02.Comment

Sorry which part have I misinterpreted?
That is exactly what I am doing, stating the obvious for those that may not be aware, nothing more nothing less.@ OP

If and when the problems are resolved then this thread could/should be removed until then I don't see a problem.Last edited by SouthernComfort; 9 April, 2011, 21:16."What we've got here is failure to communicate."Comment
