Simple m8y Cable FTA is not freeview which does require an aerial as it is on the DVB-T platform. It is up to you to use a KV responsibly and make sure it is not contravening your CC's terms and conditions. Take this as an example my m8 does not subscribe to VM so is not bound by their T&C's and he has a live feed in his house (their fault for not deactivating it from the previous tenant) he currently uses a KV for the few FTA channels he can get. There were no laws stopping him from buying a FTA DVB-C box. These boxes can have legal uses it is up to the buyer to make an informed choice when initially purchasing them and you should have returned it immediately when you realised it wasnt a dvb-t freeview box which you seem to be claiming is the problem with it.

Thicko me i actually thought freeview was the same as fta i should have returned it when i realised but as i said thicko me, is there any reason why freeview chanels dont show on cable fta boxes?

because they simply do not have to, the ones that are fta the cc's are not allowed to encrypt them or they would do.
