Traffic managed!!

I've just contacted virmin as my broadband is running extremely slow. The not so help lady in India advised me its due too my account being 'traffic managed'. When I question what this meant she explained it was due to excessive downloading at peak times. The problem is I don't download anything. Films, music...... nothing. She then put her foot in it by saying I'm one of twelve accounts being monitored!!! F@$k!!! She backtracked when I tried to get more out of her.

This has got me thinking however. Is this down to my kryptview box. I don't turn it off in the evening which probably doesn't help matters. What do you guys reckon?

I would say it's more likely that your Modem is cloned or you have a virus sending out spam e-mails. The KV doesn't download much

Or if you run a wireless network someone is tapped in a downloading shed loads, this happend to a friend of mine, tVM told him his account was being monitored and shaped due to his excessive downloading, he kicked up a fuss and asked when during the day/night it was worse, they clearly stated between 10am- 1pm now this was how he found and proved it wasnt him, he works from 4am until 2pm everyday, the only day it wasnt hammered was a sunday when he was home, there was nobody in at all the rest of the times and they concluded it was either wireless theft or cloned modem,
As said KV downloads miniscule amounts so wont be that at all.

m8, you are allowed gigabytes before they start mananging your connections, mainly down to P2P file sharing...

the KV's use practically nuthin, so nowt to do with them....

If you have a wireless network that is unsecured the chances are your neighbours will be using it for file sharing d/l's

Do you have a VM TV subscription? Maybe if you have not they are monitoring the tv packets you are receiving for your KV?
