            S/W Update Method !

Hello Powerade , you click on the Menu button on your remote control handset and then click on INSTALLATION ! A window pops up and asks for to type in the password which is 0000 . You then scroll down to where it states S/W Update and then press ok . Some people say to disconnect the LAN cable but i did not and its fine ! The next window to appear shows a Progress bar showing 0% 50% 100% if you are hooked up correctly to the PC the update process should begin within seconds after the screen disappears for a second or two! The progress bar runs to 100% and then starts again which tells you it is Unzipping the files just sent to your PC. Then the installation takes place which is then followed by the box doing a reboot. It is at this stage you know the update process has complete and you must NOT doing anything during this 3 minute progress situation. It is advised to do a reboot of your modem and router before finally doing a rescan of the box in the normal way . Dont forget to connect upto the Lan again to bring up your new found channels ok !!!

              Who are these some people?

Disconnecting the LAN will prevent the box connecting to the internet which is essential to update the software online.

                  Lan connected !

Hello guys , thanks for jumping on my helpful post ! I mentioned the Lan not being connected because people update the old firmware using the lead from the PC to the Box etc. In many posts it is mentioned about leaving out the Lan cable whilst doing this which leads to confusion . People reading these different posts then try to upload the S/W update without connecting the Lan and then wonder why it wont update . In future if you wish to post , make them informative ones instead of jumping on the train without a ticket ok ! We can all write one liner posts to increase our post count !!!

update has mae no difference at all.

i have done the update and nothing has changed all the same channels work as before and still lots of glithching and interferance on discovery channels, which other forums claim it was supposed to fix, still in many ways its still progress least we now know that s/w update is working again

                        YOU NEED A PC !

Hello again Powerade , i think you are accustomed with the old setup of these boxes whereas you just coneect to the Cable provider at the back of the box and scan for channels and Bobs your Uncle ! To get the channels now , you need to connect in the same way but you also need to be connected to the internet aswell ! Yo connect to your modem and then to a router and then to the back of your box using the Lan connection at the rear of your St*rview or KV box. You can use your PC or Laptop as long as you have a connection to the internet ! The cable provider provides the Channels but the signal to unscramble them comes from a server online ok. mentorman .

Is it essential to install the new s/w? Even if you have the same channels now as most people seem to have?
