can you get to factory reset ? or does it go straight to searching for update ,you could try reflashing with older software with null modem factory reset and then try swupdate via lan

i had the same problem mate, what i did wrong was use a old update through pc with the lan still in then the lan stopped working, use the 30/1/11 update through ur pc with the lan out, then put the lan back in when complete and try s/w update through the box, that worked for me
              hope it helps

                      Why?

Whats this obsession people have with doing a factory reset and rescan?

Perhaps any new firmwares may add something more to the channel scanning or factory reset processes and thats why they need doing again. Who knows maybe they dont need doing but theres no harm or difficulty doing it and if you experience any problems you will already have ruled it out. The instructions basically come from the KV guys so best just to go with it.

If you're struggling with the update, you could try loading the un-patched firmware and then loading the patch over that. The online update may work after that - worth a try
