Its all about channel codes mate.. people seem to think the channels are streamed or something. Every encrypted channel has a code sequence only the smartcard can decode (thats the company's way of battling pirates running servers)..by sending out the codes very fast in a sequence every few seconds(offical boxes and cards can deal with this and maintain smooth picture but if code come late then picture freezes until code arrives) So these codes bouncing off a server first then to your box will be slower especially when lots of people are looking the same one. So you will always get a freeze on the pirate server when the codes can't be sent out quick enough to everyone.I Think we are going to get a new box on the market very soon and the excuse KV will give will be the frequency or watever they will call it has changed and you will need to buy this box to watch sky sports' live matches without glitching, yet you can watch sky sports all day with no glitches until football comes on it happened yesterday and its happening today, someone made an excuse earlier regarding too many people watching ... Utter BLOX
Just like a website, the more users the more requests and the more slowdown. Things have to be tweaked and it will probably never be 100% efficent.
So it's not utter blox, more people means more requests for the server to deal with and send out asap before freezing occurs..And people usually only watch things when they are on, so that explains why there is never really any freezes during ads or build up to programs.. only few people are really watching and requesting at them times, so codes are fast for those people until the program starts people turn over and requests go up.
And remember, not everyone is into sports.. some may watch discovery or something else. So its hard to keep good all round bandwidth to cater everyoneLast edited by Sirus; 3 May, 2011, 02:19.Comment
