hi all very new to this as have had starview can anyone tell me how to put new firmware on i have looked around the forum ie the 9 pin and null modum i have got the loader on my computer pressed download checked to see what com(ie 1,2,3,4,eg) thenit comes back saying download not needed have i done somethink wrong or not thanks all

u have bought a kv a780 yes? u say u have loader yes? was box bought pre flashed?

if not use loader and load this file on Digital Kaos - Downloads - KV780 03/01/11 Firmware 03/01/11 once loaded connect ur ethernet cable from router to back of kv a780 then go to menu input 0000 and check for latest s/w let it update and get back to the forum.

yes the box was bought with pre flash on it i just wanted to no how to flash the box myself so i dont need to pay for it!!! it has 300 at the moment and having looked on the forum the new download is 301!! i just thought if i could get ant help it would be better than not nowing anythink do i need to upgrade from 300 to 301 if so why does it say download not needed any help thanks

if u mean hardware version mine is showing v3.0.0 thats fine.

on your remote go to menu - system
information you should be running firmware version 24/04/2011. ( latest version )

it sounds like you probably already are.

When new firmware comes out the news travels pretty
fast so just use remote again use menu - installation -0000 - s/w update , let updates take place and leave box to reboot, you may need to reset your modem but people will post advise when it happens.

You shouldn't need to pay anyone to keep your box updated.

hi all just done the 0000 and s/w update could you please tell me how long this takes as it still doing somethink after 10 min it might be funny to you but never had a kryptview before so does this check take some time thanks all

should take about 5 mins.

your other post says your having problems getting the channels, bit late now,
but you would be better off doing updates when everything in
your area is stable and running fine.

the firmware on box is seen as a date if yours is 24042011 that is the latest,sometimes you have to reboot as in power off at rear box modem and router for 30 secs then on to connect.

I understand the kv team may be encountering difficulties in returning to a full service and appreciate the hard work put into doing so but with the new football season nearly upon us I am not prepared to gamble any more disruptions and loss of channels and am looking for an alternative.Could someone please advise of a more reliable service. I have read on here people talking of the "freesat route" and am prepared to pay whatever it costs rather than go back to virmin. Advice on where to buy , how to set up and what to expect would be very much appreciated. I only bought my a780 towards the end of January and anyone wanting it can have it for free once I am up and running with new service. Just PM me with any advice and details of where to post the box onto you.

get a sat box instead m8, you'll have more channels and more reliability. cheapest box is "Openbox HD S10" ?72 and you can get a 12 month sub for ?50, you'll get all hd channels and most sat subs also include setanta sports.

U just need a sly dish and Internet connection to your box. but no subs required with sly.

Its cheaper than a KV or SV, plus not all channels are working on both of those boxes. and I think a KV box will cost you at least ?135

Just been looking through this thread... I am having a problem getting the firmaware to load. I have everything linked up correctly to my computer but it is not picking up the KV A780 box... Is this normal? Should the power be switched on the be connected? Arrrgh... been struggling with this for 2 days and refuse to be beaten!!! Help!
