That should be pretty much how you always aquire the correct NetId. The reason is that several NetId's are often operational in one area at any one particular time, espesially in trial aread (of which there are quite a few). If you dont have your own box then get the NetId from a close neighbour that does have a box (or stop being so tight and get yourself minimum subs)

NetId's dont change by postcode area. Their arrangement is strictly controlled by VM's network map which may seem totally illogical when viewed geographically.
