    Problem Flashing My Box.

    Hello All,

I've Had My KV Box for a while and still havent flashed the box, I've tried all instuctions and guides.

I've tried with a lap-top with windows vista I follwed the instructions and couldn't find the lpt-port or the com ports.

I;ve borrowed a m8's computer and tried but still no joy. I get a message on his computer telling me the baude rate should be set to 11520 and 8-bit polarity 0 so I've done that and tried different com-port but still no joy,

I've got a null moden cable with a converter changing male to female and I;ve also bought a usb cable aswell to try and solve the problem, still getting message saying software not requested, Does anybody want to buy a box, Only joking but it's peeing me off,

    Help Please.

find someone with an old pc with xp and serial port all you need then is the null modem cable to use to flash file to box, adapters and vista can be a pain.

    Kryptview_A780_24042011.bin - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

on the kv downloader there are com ports 1-4 you might have to see which one of your is active, box needs to be powered off at rear first then press download and power on box for file to flash and box reboot.

youy shouldnt need a converter at all,
a null modem cable should be female to female.

        you should be using either.

        1. box to null modem cable to seriel port on pc (if your pc has seriel port)

        or

        2. box to null modem cable to usb/seriel adaptor to usb port on pc. (you will need usb sereil driver installed here.)

if you are using a male to female adaptor, then there is summit wrong....

if that null modem cable has not flashed any boxes i wonder is it the wrong one,2 identical cables 1 wired straight and the null modem cable has a crossover connection to flash boxes.
plenty of people have got the wrong cable.

Thank you both for the reply,

The Null Modem cable Im Using to try and flash the box is male one end that fits the p.c. But the other end of the cableto fit the kv box also needs to be male but it's not so I bought one of those converters from Maplin that changes male to female.

Also I have the u.s.b cable that fits right into the kv,box and fits into the u.s.b but I dont think it' can see the kv box or find it, because when i try and send the bin file to the box it it asking me to change the Baude-rate and the polarity wich I've done so many time.

It could be that the driver for the u.s.b does need updating and then if this was the case how would I do this.

            Thanks again,

            Grabba.

i think your problem is your cable m8,

              this is what your after

you have to be carefull with these null modem cables as seriel cables looks exactly the same.....

you cannot plug you usb adaptor traight into box as you will have a seriel connection, you need the null modem cable inbetween.

you should have got a disk with your usb to seriel adaptor, drivers for it should be on there.......

is there any brand name or do you have a link of where you bought your adaptor?

                Thanks m8 for your reply,

I didn't get a disc with the adaptor the cable I bought is identical to. this one......

                USB to RS232 Serial 9Pin DB9 Cable ...

But nothing came with it. The link you gave me are both ends of that paticular cable both female,? because the cable I have been using is male one end and female the other. hence using the adaptor,

yes, that is why i think you have the wrong cable.....

this is similer to the converter i bought.

                  USB 2.0 to RS232 Serial 9 Pin 9P DB9 Adapter Converter | eBay

it comes with a driver disk.

looking at the details of the one you posted, it says it cannot be used with vista and no mention of win7 so i would think it doesnt work on win7 either.....

Sounds like you are using wrong cable. As said before
you need a "null modem" the "RS232 serial" is identical
to look at but won't work.

"download not requested" is a cable or com port issue.

First, if you need to use your USB converter lead, find a driver the "prolific" driver usually works.Welcome to Prolific

Then find the com port number you are using on your computer.

Go into device manager on your computer look up properties on the com port you are using and change
the baud rate (bits per sec) to 115200

then wire up the box and computer and use loader
                    to load firmware.

note the USB convertor lead don't normally give a very good connection
I had to give mine a couple of wiggles where it connects to the null modem cable to get it to work. It is better if you can plug the null modem straight between box and computer but on newer computers you will need the USB convertor lead.

Let us know how you get on
