invalid mac

Woke up this morning to an invalid mac message across the screen.

The weird thing is I still have the channel displayed behind the message. A quick search revealed that this is not usually a user fixable issue.

Am I screwed? is this box ready for the bin?

Not yet had to leave for work didn't get a chance to try and fix it. Just reading through some old posts on here regarding the error, looks like I might be heading down the sat route.

Mustn't grumble had the box for quite a while now. Definitely got my moneys worth.

There is a fix for it but you may need to return to where you bought it.

As I modified this box with unofficial firmware will my provider still be willing to replace this box? I got it from Skywonder. Reading the returns terms and conditions on their website. It looks like they wont.

have a look in "Downloads" at top, im sure i've seen the FTA firmware in there....just load that and send it back

With an Invalid Mac you cant flash the box.

The importer can fix them. I have had some done recently without any problems so the guy at Skywonder should be able to sort it. .

There is an august firmware which can sort out the mac id problem. Ask your supplier he should be able to get the problem sorted out for you, if not send me a message and i will help you sort it out.

the invalid mac only happens on boxes over a year old so out of warranty there is a fix if your supplier wont help then contact topshooter

I have emailed my supplier but I have had the box since last September so I doubt whether they will agree to sort it. I will give them a couple of days and may well end up taking topshooters kind offer.

I had the same problem mate and when the supplier refused to help topshoter stepped in and swapped my box over for me. Couldn't thank him and DC receivers enough! I'd highly recommend them to anyone thinking of buying. Best of luck with it mate!

Just spent an hour playing with a box with invalid mac and had a stroke of luck.

Manage after three attempts to get it to flash back to the FTA firmware (The box only needs a mac for internet purposes which is not built into the FTA firmware). After flashing to fta I scanned and tried on fta channels and all was well. Did a factory reset and flashed to latest firmware, back to Invali Mac. Flashed back to FTA and all was well again, factory reset and flashed an older firmware, box then rebooted and showed serching for update, plugged the ethernet in and let it update online and presto its back to life.

Quite a bit of rs ing about but ended well.

I flashed back to the FTA firmware the invalid mac message had disappeared so i tried flashing to the august firmware and now the invalid mac message returned. Get the feeling im wasting my time.
