Is this new update absolutely neccesary? Don't have kv anymore but my parents do and they say everything working ok on current 24/4/11 software.

Think it is m8 , gets box ready for new server

m8 mines glitchy as hell on some channels is there somthing i am not doing right ihave updated to latest s/w done fac def without splitter networkscan re booted router switched box off at back for 1 min yet still very glitchey on sly 2 kerrang history challange etc any help well appreciated thanx

My box very glitchy too on some channels. sky sports 1 been off a few times during darts too. colors not working. things can only get better.

If everything works ok already then no, its not necessary to update. Generally people should NOT firmware update unless they are specifically told to (in this case by KV) or they are having a problem which the particular update is designed to fix.

on old firmware 24 04 2011 lots of glitching runing on 2 boxs new less glitching plus it will one on new 12 11 2011 must beter ( server change )

yeah mines much the same, new channels like the box kiss ect are on and off and glitching, the rest are good tho, and i remember last time in april it took a few weeks 2 settle after coming back on, heres hoping, surely looking good tho

If its better then its because you were affected by a problem the update was designed to fix. If you didn't have the problem then its unlikely the new update will make any difference.

At this time, there does not appear to be any server change so this firmware is unlikely to be anything concerned with servers. There does seem to been some upstream system changes but nothing that requires box firmware changes.

Forgive me for a newbish question but I'm getting one of these boxes delivered tomorrow.

Do I take it I just go to menu ,enter 0000 and autoupdate to get the latest firmware or is there something else I have to do first?

Any help appreciated.

you will need to flash it with a null modem cable and firmware first,use the 24042011 for kv780 in downloads above
