therfore signal has to go through gale force winds twice so twice the probability of gale force winds affecting this system and before nag3 hit us all we didnt need to go through the computer

In many if not all UK Cable networks, they get their signal through a fibre link, the dishes are just a backup. The only exception is Channel 5 which uses a satellite feed to Cable headends and analogue terrestrial transmitters (not sure about DTT)
