    Kryptview errors!!!

    hi all
just wondered if anyone else has encountered these errors.... every now and then sometimes constantly for about an hour my box will suddenly display a green, pink or grey screen on the tv and on the box itself show either the number 0,1,2,5 or 7 i reset my box and it just happens again after a few seconds, then may stop for a few days and start doing it again, any ideas???
    thanks

not heard of that before, what firmware is on box,is your scart fully inserted, and have you tried a factory reset and a rescan.

latest firmware from november, not a scart issue as i imagine the picture would completely go without affecting the box, but the display shows a number, will try another reset

but dodgy scart wont put numbers on display ,i would open box and check connection between psu and main board even if it looks ok open and refit

opened up box, and seemed to have a slight loose connection on one of the plugs, so unplugged and re-inserted, but it also looks like my lovely daughter took it upon herself to put peices of straw in the gaps, so gave it a good clean and cleared all debry and dust and re-started the box, lets see how it goes

if theres a tv repair shop near you take it there and ask them to check the 3.3v line that comes from the power supply....if at any time the 3.3v line drops to below 3.1v the picture will freeze go pink green etc and display a single digit eg 0.1.2.3.4.5.6.7....normal cause is caps in the power supply unit or diode that feeds the 3.3v....as alex rightly states the connection from power to main board could also cause a drop in voltage the 3.3v feeds the main processor so has to be exactly 3.3v...it used to be a common problem with the old starview boxes...as the kryptview starts to age people will see this more often...heat causes caps to leak or bulge then lose there value

a cap is short for a capacitor..there used in all electronics and usually fail in the power supply due to heat...im sure you will remember the old starviews freezing and showing a 0 in the display that was due to a few faulty caps in the power supply failing..as allready stated these boxes are nearly two years old now and most the time will be plugged in 24 hours a day so am sure there will start to give trouble especially on the power supply board..some will have a dvd player sat on top of the kv covering the airvents heating the inside up.causing the caps to bulge and leak

thanks for all the replys, so far been 2 days since clean and no failure, hopefully this has sorted the problem, all the internal components seemed fine and after doing a test on the caps surrounding the psu they all gave good readings of 3.2 - 3.3. Im guessing the straw my daughter kindly added to the box was causing a loss in connection somewhere. oh and the box always has clear vents and ive only had this one for just over 12 months
