My 780 remoted doesnt work on my box. I even changed the batteries.

Not heard of it befor mate
Change batteries and look at it through a camera phone ,while pushing the buttons
If the remote works, you will see it flashing on the phones camera
Could be the box senser

yes the remotes do suffer if abused or dropped,as said above camera to check first,i always had a spare handy just in case.Comment

Unfortunately yes, it is a problem, less so now than a couple of Years ago but they are still a bit fragile.
If you point it at a mobile phone camera, a solid or no LED usually indicates a problem, a fast flickering LED usually indicates it's OKComment
