    Complete newbie

    Hi all

    Just trying to get my head round how to to get my A780 box working again.

    It actually stoppped working several months, maybe even nine months ago to a year .

    I tried a few things sometime before xmas, like the software update and re-scanning so I know it has the latest 'software' update up to around that date

    Apologies I cant confirm the firmware revision just at the mo! As i am currenty trying to connect to my null modem cable, only to find that i cant download the neccesary files from here anyway because of permissions!

    One thing im just not clear on at all, (because it doesnt seemed to be mentioned 'anywhere') is - what problem does updating the firmware get round, i.e. what is its purpose??? And then once it is done, what can i do? (told you i was newbie)

      firstly m8 we need to know what s/w is on yer box it should be 29112011

          Just plugged it in and got all the info

          A780 PV4.1.00
          HW version v3.0.0

          Get the feeling the HW version is "way" out of date??

              nope that is the last firmware and is working.

                  have you got the box connected to your router/bb??

                  go into installation, the s/w update and try updating form there, then factory default and a rescan

                  the boxes are working fine at the moment,
