I have sorted it out my wi fi bridge was not picking up the wireless signal so I downloaded drivers and run them in now it is working properly at long last

I was connected to a wi fi bridge I did not realise that I have always called the whole thing an iconnector, anyway after some advice here I took the wireless dongle thing and run new software on to it and lo and behold it works again thank you everybody who responded

is that why i lost my internet then ,nice to see up and working again, and i will still say only update through a lan cable not through a wireless dongle.
