i would start from scratch first with the null modem cable factory reset, then flash with the fta firmware, then flash it again with the 2011 firmware ,hook up box and do a s/w update and let box reboot, scan from main direct feed as per usual.
dont use usb adapters as they can lose data in transfer.
sounds like a faulty box..get it sent back...if you have a working a780 and have done a box to box transfer and it lists channels but doesnt clear them then the box is faulty
kryptview A780 - issues flashing for the first time
hi all - i have a kryptview question unrelated to this thread (sorry) - when trying to flash the box for the first time (i have the loader & bin/firmware) i get the following error message -
cant open serial portCom1
please check if the port has the following parameters
baudrate: 115200 bps
parity: no parity
databyte: 8 bit/data
stopbit: 1
realise this is probably an issue because i am connecting the null cable from the kryptview to my laptop using a null cable/usb adaptor but cannot find any assitance online that i can make sense of - can anyone point me in the right direction?
I always get that message leave it on that page for 5 mins it should give u a massive list of already exsists then your choose ur net id i thought it was just because once it has already scaned the box saves them for future refrence and only really checks for changed ids?

This is a common problem when using USB convertors
with a null modem cable.
This is for windows 7, for other versions of windows you can go through the device manager - advanced setting and get the same result.don't forget to save as you exit.
Plug in your USB convertor with the null modem lead attatched into a USB port
on your computer.
go to Start - Devices and printers.
If there is no obvious device listed you need to install a driver for your USB lead
try the prolific driver
PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1.6.0.zip Here
After installing the driver you should see
Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port (Com "number") listed under " unspecified " in the devices and printers.
This catagory only pops up when the lead is plugged in and the driver is installed correctly.
Right click on the device - Properties
Hardware - Properties
Port Settings - Change bits per second to 115200
When using the loader program to transfere the BIN file make
sure the Com Port "Number" selected in the loader matches the
one the USB is using on your computer.
