    What cable splitter to use

Hi every need a litte help with splitter that is connected to my cable.

I am with Virgin and I have one cable that runs in the house and then from a splitter it is connected to the superhub. the splitter that they have provided is a 2 way splitter so I got a 3 way splitter so I could connect the Kryptview 780 box. since then the signal has been dropping and time to time I am loosing connection to everything according the engineer who came from Virgin.

The type of splitter I need is a splitter that has voltage running through as the current splitter I was using was for aerial connection therefore to much power was going through it causing it to cut out.

Any advise on what sort of 3 way coaxial connection I should use for the Kryptview box. Thanks

I have one of these but when the Virgin media guy came he said that is the cause for loosing signal to my box and internet as the virgin media cable has voltage going through it and this splitter can't handle the voltage. Thanks

        Use an attenuator.

This will make a difference when you vary the db.

If thats what your Virgin media guy said, then you didnt have a very savvy virgin guy...

A 2x splitter does lose some signal strength on each output, but the incoming signal strength most certainly should be capable of being split 2x.. A 3x splitter will have a slightly lower signal strength on each output compared to a 2x splitter but should still be strong enough.. Maybe you have a duff 3x splitter, or your incoming signal strength is really very poor to start with...

post #2 you cant use a splitter on a satdish with a single lnb. the proper way to split a satellite dish signal is to use a multi feed lnb. as for the splitter you linked to, that would be fine for a kv set up

Alright mate, did you manage to sort your issue out? I've got Virgin's biggest broadband deal and used to have the correct splitter for dividing broadband and cable tv but they took it when upgrading!

I've been searching for the solution so I can have my broadband up to speed and an A780 working too (which I haven't been able to sort out yet?)

                Thanks.

P.S. I have purchased an 'Antiference FS307 3 way splitter 5-2250MHz 11dB' splitter; but not sure if this will do what I want it to... Any suggestions?
