    kryptview not powering on

    Hi, yesterday I came home and found the kryptview displaying a 0 on the front display. I was not able to switch the box on or off and there was no picture on the TV screen, so I turned it off from the back switch. After turning the box back on I am getting no info on the front panel, almost as if there is no power. The only light that does turn on is the yellow Ethernet light, so there must be power going to the box. I have tried opening the box, pulling out the power connector and firmly reconnecting it, still no luck.

    Does anybody have any ideas on what it might be?

    I would try a box to box firmware transfer if you can find another box.

      I don't think I will be able to get hold of another box.

          Yes, I removed them then reinserted.

          Do you think its a firmware issue?

            sometimes the on/off switches can be iffy,have you tried it on and off a few times,is that box a 2 or3 pin plug?

              Its a 3 pin plug, i have tried switching it on and off a few times, no luck. The Ethernet plug lights up but the box does not turn on.

                    i don't know if this might be a factor but i have placed a multi meter on the power connector and the reading keeps jumping from a positive figure to a negative..
                    is this normal?

                      explain exactly where you have placed your multi meters black and red probes..
                      best to check whats coming out of your power supply first.
                      if you place your black meter probe on the tuner unit (silver box you screw your signal to) and place your red probe on the socket that connects the power board to the main board check all these connections on the socket the voltages from the power board are printed on the board itself...the main voltages are 3.3v 5v 12v check if these are there and correct the 3.3v feeds the micro so make sure this is correct...or if you no someone with a kryptview you could remove your power board and try it in a known working box and that will tell you if your power board is working or not

                        Hope I have done this right...
                        After grounding the black probe I first checked the the brown cable going into the the back on and off switch, the reading was jumping from positive to negative.
                        I next checked the power board socket and this is the reading I got.
                        From pins left to right;
                        1=0
                        2=0
                        3=14.1
                        4=2.46
                        5=2.46
                        6=6.56
                        7=6.56

                        Its was hard to read the voltage prints on the board so I am unable to say if this is normal.

                          hi there them voltages are wrong the 3.3v line is critical as this feeds your processor anything below 3v and it will have no display or will just display 1 letter or number...your next step has to be for you to disconnect the ribbon cable and check your voltages again..if your voltages are the same as you stated your power supply board is faulty if your voltage go up 3.3v or over your power board is ok..when dissconnecting the ribbon cable your removing the load so your voltages will go a bit higher..let me no how you get on if your power supply board is faulty (3.3v line) as i may be able to help you out...forget checking your mains voltages at switch etc if there was a fault there your power supply wouldnt have any output voltages

                            sorry make sure your box is turned off when you disconnect the ribbon cable....then power box back on then recheck
                            pins 4 and 5 are the ones that should read exactly 3.3v in your case there 2.46v to low

                              Just removed the ribbon cable and rechecked the voltages;

                              1=0
                              2=0
                              3=16.4
                              4=3.1
                              5=3.1
                              6=7.02
                              7=7.02
