A780 Not Working Or Updating

I live in the Glasgow Area anyway the Firmware that I have on my STB is 24/4/11 nearly everytime that I go into the
instalation menu and select software update it nearly always
sticks on 'Searching For Update' infact I have to select 'Exit'
to come out of said mode becuase it's stuck in this mode
and will not budge. I have had my STB now for some while
I normaly go to 'Reset To Factory Defualt' re-scan which
normally sorts out the said problem & when I go back to
'Searching For Update' it comes back with a message stating
that my STB is 'Already Updated' Last night there I had the
same problem as the thread posted on the 21/9/12 by cactikid where said search was only coming back with
looking for 'Eight Channels' instead of the normal 'Forty Six'
my Area comes under N*L reading between the lines my
STB's main problem is that is does not update regularly
infact over the past three years that I have had the STB
the 'Update' function is only worked about two to three times which is not right. I have quite a few past 'Firmwares' in my
collection for my STB & I'm open to suggestions? as mentioned my main problem is that my STB is not updating
regularly which is a nuisance as mentioned the latest firmware that I'm using is 24/4/11 hopefully I will be able
to get the 26/4/11 firmware although this is also another
problem due to the fact that said firmware is not available
via DK downloads & Is also not available on another useful
website that I use for firmware updates entilted

what I mean as regards to a useful STB firmware update
& Download Tools website 'My4Shared' so to recap my STB
problem is basically down to 1) The Firmware 24/4/11 not
being updated to 26/4/11 & 2) The Searching For Update
Command not functioning properly or regularly any useful

have you tryed it with no splitters just direct feed from street and internet connected?

Update manually using 29/11/11 then try using remote for latest firmware.

My4Shared website and guess what? still no joy
just now I'm looking @ the s/w update screen
which is stuck on 'searching new update' I'll go
and check the downloads page on DK and see if
there is any firmware that I have missed out on
I'll let you both know how I get on in due course

Can't check perhaps the online update is down.

lac, I think maybe also the problem here is that because
I have done so many reset to factory default untold amount of times maybe the box has reached it's limit
what I'm going to do is reset the software back to the
original software and take it onwards from there.
I also noticed when I checked system details it's saying
the version is 3.00 which is strange considering that
the original software that comes with the stb when it's new states the version is 3.02 I'll let you know how I
get on in due course

that's really weird, I reset the stb to the official/original
software and low and behold it picks up 47 frequency's
55 frequency paths 505 channels & 38 Radio Stations but
low and behold because of said software it only picks up
fta channels my stb seams to have a mind of it's own.

phoned vermin found out through altimated message that error messages appearing on screen throughout the UK
informed that engineers are looking into said problem
another stb that I have has just confirmed said problem
with signal strength only @ 56% which is naff also signal
quality is non exsistant which is not good news either
hence recent problems oh well it looks like I'll just have
to settle with sky tv tonight which I have as back up
hopefully vermin will have said problem resolved in the
next day or two patience is the key here anyway folks

i did an update today via lan and worked ok lot of guys with problems in glasgow last few days even worse for the ones with 790 can you not do box to box from a friends box ?

did you try rebooting box modem and router as in off for 30 secs then on,remove coaxial and after a min try a s/w update.

when trying to update via lan..are you getting the lights on the ethernet port..if not your ethernet port is faulty thats why it wont update via server..

hi mate had major issues same as you crashing locking up etc, i reflashed it via pc to late flash avalible from dec 2011 and rescanned for update and loaded, channels scan as need to renew list and mine been fine since
