simple rule, if its got a hole its female.
the 15pins a VGA or D-Sub port
seriously you need an rs232 female /female it sounds as if you dont have a com port buy yourself a PCI com port card.

can you not get access to a desktop puter they have a 9pin male already to fit these cables, if not you need a 9 pin male to usb cable then connect the two together but you may need to get a driver for it to work
