If members want to discuss, voice their opinions, experiences and go slightly off topic, then so be it, its not for you to try and dictate the direction of the thread.

Or for you to do also.

Looking at flyin's posts he was complimentary as opposed to derogatory. Sometimes what you read doesn't translate correctly on a forum.

That stopped it from crashing when trying to use time shift, but all the other issues still exist such as the play icon staying there when time shift is activated.

Yeah that's normal. It just depends on the format & quality of the transmission. When you see a 1080p format, it isn't going to get any better. It really depends what sort of quality and bandwidth the networks can afford.

FWIW I think BBC has some of the best quality HD I've ever seen. Even their SD channels upscaled come up fantastic when using an HD reciever. All my "council" channels have came up miles better since changing over to the 850 so that's another massive plus for the box. Ditching the scart alone is worth it

Must admit I saw it as complimentary too. Flyin was curious about the difference in quality with different formats and that led to a discussion about the actual formats of the supplier signals. As it turns out he WAS using the best format available for the signal that was available, which I guess set his mind at ease as to his setup. A little insight was given to the difference in different formats and most will have learned something from the discussion that they previously didn't know.

Yeah, it's set to 5 seconds. It doesn't happen every time, I just noticed it a few times. I'll try to recreate the times that it does happen.

In fact, that may have been with the HDD plugged in. Not really a direct relationship that I can think of but if it doesn't happen again then it's obviously too much of a load draw for the box causing all manner of issues

I'll keep playing anyway. As I said, regardless of these wee niggles, the box is magic

good the more you shout the better it gets ,if it keeps people happy thats also a bonus.
and if you still think you are getting a bad hd picture,
                    use a better hdmi lead,
clean the bloody dirt off your screen .

                        I'd call it dismissal.

And what has that got to do with my polite attempt at moderation?

You have now taken this thread way off topic, a point that you have tried to make an issue of. I will ask you once again to please go back on topic and leave the moderation of the forum to us.
