If the transducers have moved to QAM256 then its often signal timing jitter that causes the problem rather than just signal levels. You may see the signal level displayed on the box as being acceptable whilst the quality is low. Quality is a (sort of) measurement of the bit error rate (BER) and an indication of how well the demodulator is reconstructing the bit-stream from the received data from the line. If you have low quality then your getting lots of data errors so packets are being discarded.Comment

the coder you certainly correct.
its the changing in qam what effected the 790t and caused it to glitch
all the channels in my local area were fine on the 790t when using 64qam..
as soon as most channels changed to 256 qam thats when the problems started with the 790t.
channels 1.2.3 4.5 stayed at 64qam and they are the channels that work fine on the 790t.
the change is no doubt to do with more hd channels transmitted and they have more content therefore need compressing..
an attenuator does cure a lot of the patterning on the 850.
especially if on ssp3 and ssp4 are showing patterning on the bottome half of the pictureComment
