did you fit the attenuator and give it a slight adjustment then wait for 10 secs then another.
remind me again of how you got your netid
I marked the attenuator with a marker pen so I had a starting point, then moved quarter turn waited 20 mins, turned again. Made no difference. So tried smaller turns.
Got my netid from vermin box that was installed last month, but have tried others.
I will go as far as to say there is nothing that has been suggested that I have not tried at least three times.
Basically, you need to get your signal levels into the correct range. When VM upgrade to qam256 they also tend to increase the signal level to return the snr/ber to an acceptable range for their own equipment.
Unfortunately, what their doing is quite simplistic and doesn't necessarily result in a particularly good signal at many nodes (especially where nodes have had signal levels previously tweaked) so you may need to either attenuate (decrease) or amplify (increase) the signal level into your box.
That would be relatively easy BUT unfortunately both of the above processes also introduce noise which can also affect the ber. If you cant find a satisfactory compromise point (note, your new signal levels must also work at qam64 as some transducers continue to use this scheme) then the only solution is for a vm engineer to 'tune' your node for optimum levels in the distribution box
[QUOTE=Dollarbill1964;1864213]Ok because there are a couple of glitching threads and it's getting confusing I have added this one.
What we all need to know is - does anyone have either box working on a vm super hub with no problems. Or / and in an area where broadband speed has been doubled.
My friend has the original vm hub and he has the same problems as we have, maybe more pronounced.

There are plenty of people in areas that have been uplifted and using superhubs that have no problem.
The problems seem to be occuring in locations where the signal levels were already on the marginal side. Also the problem apparently manifests more often in exTW areas where the signal levels are historically lower than in other franchise areas.
The superhub itself doesn't have much to do with glitching. If your having network issues then you will likely see problems with other real-time programs such as voice-chat and gaming.

The problem - 850 keeps glitching freezing every few minutes.
So taking on board everyone's suggestions.
Today I renewed cable direct from source to KV, I have factory defaulted, re-scanned using c&w and telepest the only two that let me scan. I tried Manchester 1 - 4 and various others.
I tried attenuator,
Tried vm super hub!! In modem only mode
All to no avail.
However the problem is NOT just the 850 as I changed the 850 for my 780 and that does the same. Except it comes up channel scrambled rather than glitching.
So my conclusion is either, I have a signal problem coming in, but my VM HD box has no problems and I had a VM engineer out to check cable, signal etc. and he fitted a -10db forward attenuator to the cable.
This leaves me with one thing left. The vermin super hub! Prior to having that installed I only had the usual problems with the 780 not this continued scramble.
The only thing I can do is get VM to put back the old modem and give me 20mb broadband, I am convinced the problems all started since vm doubled the speed and installed the super dud!

Thanks for all help and suggestions much appreciated.
Im having the same problems, to the point that its gone off altogether now! Just says 'Scrambled'.
I had no problems with the old modem, but then Vermin upgraded me to 32 Meg for free and its been hell since then. Ive had 2 'super' Hubs in 3 months and its been glitchy.
One thing Ive been told it to do a 'broadband speed check' ive done it a few times over the ourse of an hour......and you wond believe the fluctuation in signal! Lowest being 0.34 Mbs up to 28 Meg and pretty much everything inbetween. Seems to be Vermin Med1a problem to me?????

Whilst doing the speed checks, also take note of the line signal characteristics on the modems status pages. If they are varying significantly or download channels are dropping out (you'll likely have four of them) then you need a visit from a vm engineer.
I can also second the mad fluctuations in connection speeds using Vm hub.
Yesterday be4 watching the man utd v Everton match on slyspts1 via kv780 box, I decided to load a stream of the match on my laptop incase kv started glitch. (laptop connected via WiFi in same room as vm hub)
After 30min of flawless viewing via kv glitches began appear then worsen until the picture was lost(scrambled or no vid) .. Then within a minute the stream on my laptop would drop.
After testing speed I saw my ping increase to 120ms+(normally 32ms) and download drop to below 1mbps(normally 25mbps+).
After about 5mins the stream would come back shortly followed by kv and connection speeds were back to normal.
