hi the kids have been watching the box and i have just come in and put it back on and it seems to be stuck on the main menu page any help plz and ty

Try switching off at the wall and you may need to rescan channels.

if you get the installation menu and it wont go to a channel selection.. then you will need to reflash

no you dont,a factory reset default brings you to the installation page because there are no channels stored.

on past experiences .. i have found that unless you have a channel back up file (si) you will need to reflash and then scan

channel back up files can add more problems as channels are always moving and tps changing,its always best to do a fresh scan.
if there was a local issue and box power scanned it may have found nothing and would that leave you on the menu page.

first rule check for providers issues
does your network need a reboot
factory reset/rescan if needed
last of all a reflash with null modem cable.
people always want to reflash but it may not be needed
once a month get people to check for s/w online updates.
