KryptView can anyone help yes or no?

hi im an old cable viewer by that i mean my last box was eurovox sl1000 and i bought 4 and had them switched off via new encryption N3 so not been back till now ive always seen KryptView boxes as long as ive been around these forums and ive seen them stand the test of time but when i look into buying 1 im always thrown back by negative feedback with glitching or channels down but can anyone help with my choice this box seems the only box your not in need of a c/s server to view the current sub channels and i dont wanna be setup for a fall like the 4 eurovox boxes i bought. if this is as good as the names been around what version should i be looking for and im not bothered about HD?
thanks to anyone who may help

if you aint wanting hd then the option is the a 780 DO NOT go for the 750 as this is now a very old box and has very limited support the 780 does have its problems also as you mentioned glitching and the loss of channels from time to time I have had my box 4 years now and what I have saved is well worth it it has paid for itself many times over as once you get it up and running theres no subs to pay the other option is sat route wit cs and subs I hope this helps yer m8 good luck

Yeah go A780 i've been well pleased with mine for ages.
Unfortunally it's sat doing nothing now as i invested in a Skybox F3 for the HD side of things
Otherwise i might of opted for a A870 or is it A850 HD version anyway.

You have to take the rough with the smooth. The cable options are by no means perfect but they are all we have. Personally I wouldn't waste my time with a non-HD box. The 850 is a far nicer bit of kit regardless of whether you want to watch HD or not.

Not all the channels work, some are regional and not covered (I don't get STV HD or STV+1 for example)
There is VERY little in the way of support or information.
The channels go down periodically (sometimes a few, sometimes a lot), it's never explained and there is no warning.
The tuners in them aren't great, a very good signal is required but in a lot of cases an attenuator can make a difference. This makes them a bit glitchy on some channels.

On the other hand, when it's working and the channel you are viewing isn't glitching it's all gravy. Menu system is simple, channel configuration is easy enough to sort out. The favourites are painstaking to set up but once they are done finding what you want is easier than a proper sub box so that's good.

The one gripe I have always had is no support and no communication. I can understand the reasoning behind this (fear of being caught) but it doesn't make it any less frustrating.

Just know what you're getting into isn't perfect, can be really frustrating at times and sometimes fails completely. It's always came back though

if a person asks a kv question is it not answered?
as to the channels going there are many reasons like movement of channels and qam channels and other things.
support is there but in a different way as its not posted out in the open like it was before things change.

I have seen a lot of answers to questions but mostly deflecting away blame towards the KV system & server. The replies I see aren't objective and supportive enough IMO. Channels not working... must be your line or your setup, couldn't possibly be the equipment, server or anything like that. A perfect example is what you have just wrote, always blaming the individual, the setup or VM and never accepting that it may indeed be the service.

I gave up asking questions about getting features working, bug reporting and all other manner of things because it just fell on deaf ears and noone was interested. It's night and day to the way things were when I was into the Dbox2 side of things. People worked together to get things resolved and when something wasn't working someone would always make attempts to fix it..... for free as it was non profit. Now we're paying and getting no service in that respect.

The way things are now is that if it isn't down to an improper setup, improper use of the box, a change of transponders or a VM fault then noone is interested.

For me that's not support of the box, that's just generic forum support that could be spread across any forum area as the same rules apply.

there are too many things happening with the cable scene that will interfere with viewing,5 years ago all you had was a cable and now boxes have 2,i would agree kv are secretive and dont talk [ much ]
channel movement means kv have to fix their end first and might take a week or longer and takes time, you would be surprised at some setups are done, you need the best setup not 30 yr old cables and loose connections.

I agree with scoters assessment 100%.

If you get a box get the HD A850 but do it with your eyes open. As long as your expectations are realistic then even now when the box has been playing up a bit IMO over the piece it's still worth it.

I think its also important to recognise the difference between people who are on the forums just to complain/make unrealistic demands of KV and those who are here to offer constructive feedback and engage in discussion in the hope that the service will improve.

I totally agree, my point about support isn't from the guys on here... the points made about connection/signal/vm issues etc are all valid. My point is that once those issues have been ruled out then there is nowhere else left to go.

The forum support is excellent, as it generally always has been. The hardware/service support is terrible as there literally isn't any. There is not one piece of advice that I can recall that is specific to fixing an error with an A780 or an A850. Every helpful post is based on generic information that could be adopted to any cable box (hence my point).

Anyone who wishes to try, while watching a channel press OK to bring up the channel list, press back to come out of it and watch your box crash. This has been an issue since the A780 (possibly before as that's the first I had) and yet nothing gets done about it, noone is interested in fixing the little niggles that would make the boxes FAR better. Issues being fixed would at least show a little support. There hasn't been a single update to fix anything for as long as I have had my box, the only update was the latest one for a server change or something like that.

I wrote a list of things that I had noted a while back, not a single thing has been addressed in any updates.... as there haven't been any.

People need to know what they are getting into before handing over their hard earned. I'm relatively happy with the box overall, I'm just pointing out the negatives regarding it and the service.

people dont do research first they see and buy and then figure if they get it to work,it could be worse if you get a starview only get a few years out of it then you need another box, maybe when all the upgrading is finished kv will have time to do a few fixes?
