I am a bit thick with these things. I am not sure what you are asking but I have a VM SuperHub for my broadband. Many thanks for your offer of help. I would really appreciate it.

To help people help you, you'll need to give as much information as possible. What cactikid asked for was some basic information that may help to distinguish the problem, knowing you're running off a virgin media superhub is good to know, but you'll need to get clued up with the firmware version jargon as this is a common cause of most scrambled problems (well not every time but..) on your box you will need to navigate through the menu untill you find the option to view the "about" or "Software" (it may not say either of those) but you will eventually find where it says what Firmware version you have, this way people can identify if you're outdated or not. So have a quick browse for that and then reply what version you have

ok super hubs are kak as they drive people mad,i think you have your kv box plugged into the superhub if so you will get problems, you need to add a wifi router like a netgear or belkin so kv plugs into that and lets box get a proper ip address, should be many posts in the kryptview section in relation to setup.

Many thanks. No I have a netgear but the box is not plugged into it. I have two plugs which have Eth/Lan on them. These were always fine with the Skyview box. My menu says "Hardware HV 1.0.00.00 and my software says SV1.01.06. I don't know if this is any help. I am afraid I an a female old age pensioner, with no technical knowledge hardly.

you will get problems and box will not be able to do an online update,i would try plugging the kv into that netgear unit and pwer off box [kv ] then on,there should be a few posts about the superhub and the kv hd.

Many thanks. I have tried updating through the internet update but, as you said I couldn't I got that it was updating but, at the end a message came up that there was an error no. 5. I tried to plug the kv into the hub but am not sure that i did it right because it didn't seem to do anything. Don't know quite what to do. Kind regards

if you have a friend near you that has another type of bb you could try updating at their place all you need is the remote hdmi cable, others have done it that way.
if you have a router use that to plug your kv into and from router to super hub, power off at rear for 30 secs then on to connect to internet.

Hi, I am so sorry but I will try to see if I have a friend with another type of bb but not really sure how I would use it anyway. I would have to move the box and everything, wouldn't I? The other evening I was tired and over anxious and I pressed some button and it has saved the software onto the USB stick. I can see it on the USB so I pressed it and it said it was formatting and not to turn the power off until finished. I have done that so not sure if it has gone back onto the box or not. I tried plugging ethernet cables from the back of the box to my old laptop but not sure whether it is because it is so old or because I have a poor wifi signal to my laptop but when I pressed the menu and pressed internet upgrade it just remained at the orange internet upgrade command, It does this too now whenever I do it through the normal channels. I used to have a digital duo box which used Orange HomePlug dLAN to transmit the signals from one room to the other because I do not have the computer and internet in the same room as the cable and tv. This has always worked fine and did with this box until it needed an internet upgrade. I do not know what to do. I have always had someone I could ring and they would talk me through it before I came over to Kryptview. The trouble is that, although I am not thick I am totally where anything technical is involved. Many thanks. Kind regards

formatting usb means wiping/erasing it clean,it should be still on the box in system info and your firmware is 1.06,ok if doing it elsewhere the update you will need to bring box, remote, hdmi cable and lan cable and go to friends house and set it up there, you dont need coaxial plugged in only the lan cable hdmi cable and power lead.
switch tv and box on and go to menu-internet upgrade-ok box should show signs of updating to 100% and box reboots, when it does go to menu-system info and 1.08 should be on it-job done power off and bring all stuff home.
setup box at home and do a factory reset/default to erase channel list 0000 to delete.
box should be scanned at strongest point with no splitters or extensions. [with coaxial cable feed ]
choose provider and scan and if you pick up no channels try a different provider and choose your net id
