people were told to try and do a online update every month or 2 to see if it updates,you might have missed that also if you only come now and again.
when box updates and reboots/factory reset and rescan as per the rules.Comment

my box gets to 100% on the sw update then nothing.it just freezes.surely this cant be rightComment

I'm having the same problem , all went off yesterday & now when I do a software update it gets to 100% then just freezes. I've tried factory resetting but it doesn't make any difference.Can anyone suggest anything ?Comment

the reason it wont update via lan is because your s/w is too old if its dated 04/12 it wont update via lan if dated 11/12 it will update via lan.
as cactikid said your best trying for new updates every few months or soComment
