    help please

hi all, i joined this site a couple of years ago not really been on since having my twins - no time . well anyway my channels have gone of my kryptview a780 box. i have factory reset, and tried the s/w update which gets stuck on 100 percent. i have read through the threads and seen that as my last update was 26-4-2012 it will not now update with the new version.

i also seen that the update can be found in the downloads section which i have downloaded to my laptop. unfortunately i cant ask my husband what to do now as i am the one that has to figure out and fix anything like this . so i am just wondering if anyone can tell me how i get this software update i have downloaded to my laptop onto the box, is it just through the ethernet cable? a breakdown from your goodselves would be great. hope i have listed everything you need to know about my problem. x

so has your box actually accepted the new sw update..as you use a rs232 cable and not an ethernet cable.
also have you any family or friends who have a box with the latest sw on it

no it didnt, it gets to 100 % and then stops. i did the s/w update on my dads 2 days ago and it worked, just not on mine. i have no idea what cable you mean. hubby might though.

ok what you need to do first is get your hands on a rs232 (null modem cable)

most computer shops should sell them..

next step disconnect your box then go to your dads house..

next step connect the cable between your dads box and your box..(leave your box disconnected from the power).

nest step get remote control and press menu installation 0000 2rd option down id data download go into this then press ok then switch the power on you box and you will get a percentage bar moving from 0 to 100% once oit reaches 100% you have then updated your box using your dads box.

its a lot less hassle then using a computer..

sorry data download is the 3rd option down inside the installation menu..
theres 2 options s/w transer and channel data transer.
the s/w transer is the software and the channel data tranfer is the actual channels (so you dont need to retune the box).

the reason your dads box accepted the update and yours didnt must be because his box was running on the 11/12 software and your must have been on the 04/12 software.
if older then a year it will reach 100% and stick.

                    hope this helps you out

if these steps dont work then just go your dads house when he isnt in and swap your box with his box then job done
