I have now purchased three sets of RS232 USB convertors, but when I click start on KV loader it then says DOWNLOADING NOT REQUESTED. I have checked that the com is correct, correct bin, tried red red standby etc but still stuck. Can anyone give any clues as to what else can be tried to get it to flash. Thanks Sean
Maybe try changeing the com port to com2 it worked for me.Dont forget to turn the box off then on again when you click on start.

Downloading is not requested means that the port is correct but connection to the box is failing for one of two reasons when switched on and not breaking the bootloop.

      1. Cable is the wrong one, faulty or not making good connection where it plugs into the ports.

      2. There is a fault on the box its self.

The best way to test if everything else is ok, try loading firmware from computer to another box. Even reflashing the same firmware if you can borrow a box that has already been updated online. This then eliminates the computer and any usb/serial adaptors.

Firstly, USB serial cables are NEVER a good idea. Some may work, some wont but basically the whole concept of doing real-time serial transfers via USB is flawed due to USB packetising things that shouldn't be packetised. Result is lots of timeouts from the receiving equipment wondering why data is coming in drips & drabs rather than as a constant timed stream. Microsoft should of known better !

Next, any serial cable used for comms with the KV MUST be of the NULL type. Many serial cables purchased will be of the cross-over type as this would be normal configuration for serially connected equipment.

'DOWNLOADING NOT REQUESTED' can be caused by either of the above two conditions but can additionally be caused by not getting thing done in the proper order or within the correct timeframe (KV seems to require precision timing for some reason - many people have problems mastering it, myself included).

It would be unlikely for a box that responds with this message to be faulty. The only failure mode that could cause such a fault would be a blown serial port, which could really only occur by connecting the incorrect cable

Hi, JUST TO LET YOU KNOW I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE USB TO R232 ADAPTOR. I AM RUNNING windows 7. Also works with windows xp. First thing you need to do is to load the PL2303 Prolific driver installer v1.8.0 then connect your cable. You can run the PL2303 check chip V1006 to see if it can find the adaptor and that it is working ok. Hey presto away you go with the loader. I hope this is useful for you. I have had no problems since. regards Boomerbarry.

@ The coder, The box is now fixed, thanks for your info, and more thanks for not insulting me like some of the "ALLEGED" VETERANS/VIPS on here. Beggars belief the audacity of some of them. Cheers
