Kryptview A780 lost channels Say already Exists Please Help

Hi Every One, Can you some one please help I have had the kryptview box now for a couple of years now with no problems the other day had issues with the telephone line and two virgin media guys came out. they messed around big time with all the cables. Since then the box lost channels and now I have updated to the latest firmware date 17/06/2013 Software pv4.2.01 hw v3.0.0. But still on scanning it say already exists on all choices! network is 1 NTL search Network and comes up already exists 7 times my signal strength sits between 78-81. Please can some one help me its driving me mad.

factory reset and rescan from main feed ,do check for vm outside issues as areas are upgrading and qam changes.

hi needs to provide a bit more info.
has he a bb or tv sob with vm.
if say he only has a bb sub and his hub is upsatirs and his kv is downstairs then the 2 guys may have disconnected his splitter from out side his house and just left the feed for upstairs standard practice that.
but he needs to let us no his set up.
seems strange its only gone after 2 vm guys were at his house

Hi Thank you for the reply's, I have not tried a scan from the direct feed as my kv box is down stairs and my super hub is in the loft space with 3 vm boxes, So I have a spliter from the main feed to two vm boxes and a further feed that splits between the super hub and the third vm box. so I've taken one of there splitter out and replaced it with a four way splitter and ran about a 20m coax cable down stairs to the krypt view box with a 20m cat 6 cable from the super hub. Which has always worked ok sometimes it would drop out but overall was not to bad. I don't think they have cut my cable but will have a good look again. Is it possible that these guys have put a filter on my line and if so would this stop the box working? If not is my setup correct. Any help would be great. Sorry to sound thick but how would I check qam changes? Thank Again.

the only way to scan is from direct main feed,it has always been that way when boxes came out,i dont know if you can check a qam change but vm are messing bringing in hd channels.

That particular message is more an informational thing rather than an error. It just means a particular frequency has already been checked

my signal strength sits between 78-81.
That may be too low. As suggested above try direct connect to main feed. All splitters cause loss in proportion to the number of taps. A four way will have similar loss to 2 two-way splitters (although noise injection may be less on the 4 way).

yes in order for the box to show the net id it will do a brief overal scan of the box and if it misses any transponders it wont show the net id.
and if it shown 8 or 11 already exist it means its not picking anything up.
if you disconnected your feed altogether and scanned it will count to 1 to 8 then find no channels

Thank you for the info im going to check all the cables again and then do a scan of the direct feed. I know this may sound daft but once I have done the scan could I then put the splitter back in as my kv box is in a different location.

yes thats how most people do it,if nothing is been picked up on qam 64,try changing it to 256 and check what results you get

Although VM are in the process of migrating to qam256 they nearly always leave the default frequency at qam64 (default frequency usually has vm's firmware updates). This one transponder should be enough to capture data on all transponder settings (all the transponders transmit full NIT/SDT tables). This means it should be unnecessary to change the qam rate on the box unless, for some reason, the box is failing to find the default frequency in its initial search (which would, in itself, imply you have a signal problem)

Hi, Thank you all for your help I'm doing a scan of the main cable . So I will let you know how I get on!! One more question if any one can help out. Is it possible to run the kryptview through my pc TV card and play the channels on my x box extenders through windows media, I'm not sure if this is possible but it would be a great way of getting around from having two to three kryptview boxes, Hope some one can help. Cheers
