usually they are good but at the moment a lot of channels are missing and channels are glitching, give it say a week and see what progress forward and not backwards has been done.780 needs flashing by null modem cable and old pc if you have one, firmware and loader in downloads.
kv 850 hd box is flashed by usb,no firmware is posted on any forum but is available when needed, hopefully new shipment should have got the modification.

the 780 for recording an old vcr or dvd recorder, the 850 can use a usb or small maybe 500 gb hd but unsure about recording, others hopefully can answer.

depends if your bothered about hd or not.
if your not used to currently watcing in hd then maybe your not bothered about hd but personally myself after watching in hd its hard to go back to sd.
if it was me i would go for the 850 as much better picture plus usb for recording and the simple fact its a lot newer then the 780 and also been told (if not already happened) the 850 will be running on a different server then the 780

              pros and cons..
yes the sky f5 box is good for the money but again its only as good as the gift that runs it..
plus people can set a cs set up then take loads of people money one day then shut it then set up the next day and start all over again plus there is fees to pay every year as the kv is only a on-off payment plus all the talk of the sat hd card pairing etc etc so it really is pros and cons.
at least the 780 has been running about 4 years now and the 750 before that was longer
